Berita Thrills Her Jozi Fans! She Promises To Go All Out.

AFRO-SOUL singer Berita will be reunited with her Joburg fans tomorrow!

She will perform alongside Zonke Dikana, who will be singing songs from her latest album titled Work Of Heart.

Berita, whose real name is Gugulethu Khumalo, said she is looking forward to sharing the music from her album released in November titled Songs of Empowerment.

“I don’t get many opportunities to perform in Joburg and when I do, I go all out. I have grown artistically and my stage presence has also improved.

“It will be interesting to perform on the same stage with Zonke,” she said.

Berita said she is still an up-and-coming artist. She said she is still new in the industry, hence she values any input from experienced singers. She said she also learns by observing their performance to take points.

“I’m humbled by how my music career has taken shape.

“I have realised that I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for me being a great listener and observer,” Berita said.

She said she has had so many highs in her career. However, one such achievement she can’t get over, is that of having collaborated with music giants Oliver Mtukudzi and Hugh Masekela on a song titled Mwana Wa Mai, which is sung in Shona meaning my mother’s child.

“I was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and Shona is part of my heritage.

“I’m grateful that baba Oliver is the one who approached me to do the song and I later found out that he had also asked baba Hugh to be part of the collaboration. This has been a great for me and I hope that it ends on a high musically,” she said.

Berita is known for her popular single Uthando Lwethu which introduced her to the music industry three years ago.
