Louis van Gaal has no intention of quitting Man United

Louis van Gaal has told close friends that he has no intention of quitting as Manchester United boss. Manchester United manager Van Gaal arrived back at Carrington on Tuesday after two days in Holland

The under-fire Dutchman returned to Carrington on Tuesday after spending two days back home in Holland to celebrate his daughter’s birthday.

And it is understood that the United boss is ready to fight on despite being hounded down the tunnel by angry fans following Saturday’s defeat to Southampton at Old Trafford.

The situation remains a volatile one and the prospect of United sacking Van Gaal cannot be ruled out amid a run of poor results and even poorer performances.

For now, it appears as though he retains the support of Ed Woodward even though the United chief has been canvassing senior players for their opinions over the last few days.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward spent Tuesday in London and continues to back Van Gaal as manager
Woodward spent Tuesday in London while Van Gaal took training ahead of Friday’ s FA Cup fourth round clash with Derby County.

The mood at Carrington was described as being business as usual after the players were also given two days off.

That was arranged last week and was not a knee-jerk reaction to the Southampton defeat which plunged Van Gaal’s reign into crisis once again.

It led to speculation that he had offered to quit in talks with Woodward after the game.
