Letter to Mark Bareta: Anglophone Military Sympathizers Targeted

Good Morning Mark. How are you doing? Hope this message gets to you in good health. Well My name is (withheld).

I know we've been chatting here but I guess there's something we all are failing to identify in this struggle. We all accept that Southern Cameroonians are been Marginalized and are been arrested and beaten by the Army and Policemen from La Republic. But what we all are failing to identify that even though our brothers and sisters in the military carry out such atrocities they are not in support of what La Republic is doing.
They've been trained to simply follow orders but some of them are in solidarity with our struggle and some of them support our struggle and are willing to stand with us but they are scared of loosing their lives. Why do I say this. On the 21 of March my cousin who's in the BIR, called me here on Facebook and we spoke for about 5 minutes about the ongoing struggle and he told me clearly that there are lots of Anglophones in the military who support our struggle but can't voice their opinions out because they fear that their colleagues from La Republic might snitch on them and get them killed.
Letter to Mark Bareta: Anglophone Military Sympathizers Targeted

Just this morning I got a call from my mother back in Cameroon telling me that my cousin is dead and they are saying he died of Typhoid but my mother told me that they don't believe that's the real cause of his death and no one will ever know. So is it that those our anglophone brothers who are in the military are in solidarity with us are being targeted and silently killed? So if that's the case what can be done to help them?....END.

My take: This message is true and published un-edited. I spoke with his mum to confirm, I have the picture of the BIR. It is pathetic to hear. However, may his soul rest in peace. The struggle continues. Mark Bareta.
