Ayah Abine -- “I Am Being Illegally Detained In Total Ignorance Of The Crime I Have Committed” Writes The Magistrate From His Cell.

He said he was worried about his “wavering” health.

It’s a second correspondence from Paul Ayah Abine to Cameroonians. After the first one published last April, the magistrate, arrested and detained at the Secretary of State for Defense for 4 months, came again to address his fellow citizens.

La Nouvelle Expression (LNE) published on May 24, 2017, publishes some excerpts of this correspondence. “I have been illegally detained since Saturday, January 21, 2017, in total ignorance of the crime I would have committed. To what do I call a terrorist: what does section 12 of the Anti-terrorism Act say? Why am I not being put on direct trial as this article says if it is terrorism? “Asked the president of the Peoples Action Party.
Ayah Abine
He subsequently deplores the rumors about his incarceration. “Faced with the legendary silence of the government on the rationale for my ordeal, my case is the subject of rumors and other” trials “on TV and newspapers, while the Constitution of our nation preaches the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise. It is important that I am not charged. Just as I have not been dragged to court for more than 120 days, “he wrote.

Ayah Abine completes his letter by invoking his state of health. “My wavering health is disturbing. Since my detention at the SED, I have contracted a heart problem and my eyesight (especially my left eye) is deteriorating, ” one reads. As a reminder, the High Court of Mfoundi had rejected the request for immediate release brought by the lawyers of Ayah Abine.
