Tapang Tanku's Take On The Current Successes or Failures Of The Struggle

Someone asked me again if we are succeeding and I said YES, of course, we are. Here is Tapang's take:

1. At the moment, there is an aparent stalemate or standstill in the winning struggle. That means, neither sides are making any major strategic move that could tip off the balance. That is, for a fact, a huge success for an unarmed people fighting a 34-year old military regime in a big to rip off a 56-year-old dubious "unitary" system. We won.

2. Among old regimes - dictatorship regimes - where there is a standstill in a political power transition struggle, the civilian population seeking to challenge the defender often win it. This is because the regime would increasingly lose credibility from its domestic audience, suffer audience cost, and have no other alternative to rescue itself. At the moment, La Republique has exhausted all its options, but all of our options are now on the table.

3. You cannot beat me in my father's house. Neither can you challenge my authority in my homeland. The people have risen up against a foreigner. There is no way foreigners can now have their way in S. Cameroons without being afraid, intimidated or purged. We won.

4. Expect both sides to start feeling discouraged at this stage in the struggle because both sides are under an armlock. They would get tired quickly if they keep showing off their power. Hence, the avenue for meaningful dialogue would be created. Do not be discouraged, friends. We won.

5. You have reshaped the history of Cameroon. Never ever will they take you for a joke or a second-class citizen. You have taught them that they have their right of way and yours'. You won. Soon, they will openly acknowledge that you both have equal status. Hence a referendum could be the only plausible way out if meaningful dialogue collapses.

Once more, you've won fatly. Do not be fooled by whoseover. All our options including force are on the table. What more can La Republique show to us as strength when their officers are now panicking to flee?
