Cameroon News -- Death Of The Bishop of Bafia - Gov’t Arrest Suspects

According to the French news daily newspaper Le Jour, of 8 June 2017, a driver and a guard from the diocese of Bafia were arrested on 2 June 2017 in connection with the death of Bishop Jean-Marie Benoît Bala, bishop of the diocese, whose circumstances of death remain unresolved until now.

The paper reports that the two arrested have been detained “in a secret location since then. Although the reasons for their arrest can not be determined at this time, it is known that they are at the disposal of the judicial inquiry announced by the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of the Center.

Le jour went further in its report that in addition to these two arrests , many people continue to be questioned as the investigators carefully exploit the call list corresponding to the telephone contact of Bishop Bala.

It is therefore difficult to know whether or not they have highlighted elements that could justify the arrest of these two men.

However, it was noted that on May 31, 2017, when the bishop disappeared, it was said that a guard of the diocese was the last person to have seen the deceased. Is this the reason why the guard is been questioned?
