Cardinal Christian Tumi Expects Nothing From The Ongoing Investigation Into Mgr Bala’s Death

Cardinal Christian Tumi says he expects nothing from the ongoing investigation into the death of the Mgr Jean Marie Benoît BALA Bishop of Bafia diocese in the centre region of Cameroon.

Cameroonian religious authorities apparently differ in to the way the feel about the follow-up to the investigation opened by the Biya government on the death of the Bishop of Bafia, Bishop Jean-Marie Bala.

In a statement made public after the bishops conference in Mvolyé -Yaoundé Wednesday, the bishops after confirming that the Bishop of Bafia was assassinated , demanded that the murderers be handed over to the justice.

An idea not shared by Cardinal Christian Tumi, according to him the Church does not attribute any particular importance to the investigation currently going on to know the circumstances and the perpetrators of the murder .

In an interview with the “THE RAMBLER”, Christian Tumi instead calls for forgiveness and prayer to strengthen the faith of Catholics in Cameroon at a time when the Church is going through a difficult period.

“You can’t do anything even if you discover the criminal, as was the case with Pope John Paul II who was shot, the criminal was known and after that he was forgiven,” he said . Not sure that this notion is shared by Catholics faithfuls in Cameroon who did not hesitate to express their anger the day after the death of the bishop.

Four people have already been arrested in connection with the judicial proceedings to identify those responsible for the assassination of the Bishop of the diocese of Bafia. The prelate’s funeral scheduled to start 13 of June was postponed indefinitely.
