Cameroon – 2018 Presidential Elections: “If Paul Biya Is Still Candidate, This Will Just Be Pure Witchcraft” – Nkou Mvondo

Will Paul Biya, President of the Republic of Cameroon, be a candidate for his own succession in 2018? At the present time, the answer to this question seems still a real enigma.

Several compatriots decrypting the latest acts and speeches of the Head of State seem convinced that the one who runs the country since November 6, 1982 (35 years) should indeed apply for a new lease. The latter think that the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 that Cameroon insists on organizing despite the many skepticisms in the legs of the leaders of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) should constitute for the “homme lion“, an argument for a decisive campaign.

Leader of the Universe Party, Professor Prosper Nkou Mvondo refuses to subscribe to this analysis grid.

He said that the Head of State, who was already under the weight of his age (84 years old), was not able to solicit the votes of his compatriots again. “The president said: Cameroon will be ready and Cameroon is not Paul Biya. And many of his followers, many of his opponents see in these words, the announcement of his candidacy. I did not see it that way, I did not hear the announcement of his candidacy. And I am convinced that before the 2018 elections, Paul Biya that I know will not be a candidate. There are calls on that, there are counter-calls, he has never spoken, he never said so. He even postponed the congress of his party indefinitely. Congress from which he was expected to pronounce himself. He said nothing. “He argues. For him, if Paul Biya is a candidate in 2018, “it will simply come from witchcraft“. “Do not forget that he is 85-year old and at 85-year old, does he still have ambitions for Cameroon? No, it’s over, “recalls the Cameroonian opponent.

Speaking of the “advanced” age of the President, Nkou Mvondo refuses the comparison that some try to do with that of his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe (93 years). “No, let’s take some examples that can take Cameroon a step further. You take the example of Mugabe, no, let’s also take the example of the 39-year-old who has just been elected in France. We need this release, a new generation that will not wait 35 years to think about organizing an AfCON, moreover, in a hurry. Mr President of the Republic, if you are still a candidate in 2018, this simply prove to be witchcraft. Go to rest and pass the relay, there is a new generation that is emerging … “he reiterated Sunday during the program” Droit de Réponse “on Equinoxe Television.
