Cameroon's Akere Muna, Candidate For The 2018 Presidential Elections

In the edition of the forthcoming magazine Jeune Afrique, the lawyer at the Bar of Cameroon says he wants to be part of the solution to the problems of the country.


Me Akere Muna is a candidate for the 2018 presidential election in Cameroon. It was at the magazine Jeune Afrique that the lawyer of the Cameroon bar decided to make the announcement. The former president of the Bar Association of Cameroon believes he is ready to succeed Paul Biya, a former close associate of his father (Tandeng Muna), with whom he says he has a "special" relationship.

Akere Muna asserts that if the Cameroonian people granted him access to the supreme magistracy, it would be "out of the question to undertake anything against him." I feel an obligation, as an African, to protect him ... it would require a truly extraordinary reason to sue him, " argues the lawyer. Waiting,"It would be desirable that Paul Biya passes the relay," affirms the candidate for the presidential.

On the reasons for his candidacy, Akere Muna is clear : "The state of my country makes me want to be part of the solution. For two decades, I have worked hard on governance , on the economy, but also on the rule of law. To present myself is the only way to share my experience for the benefit of Cameroonians .

As regards the form of the State, which is the subject of current tensions in the north-west and south-west regions, Mr Akere Muna is a formal one. If elected President of the Republic of Cameroon, he will choose federalismbecause he "respects our different cultures" .

On the prospects of the 2018 election, the former president said that "Cameroonians are ready to elect a president who can improve their daily lives and bring fraternity together . " He thinks he is up to these expectations and promises to be "a listening president" .
