Vatican Pressures The Cameroon Government To Produce Investigation Reports On The Assassination of Late Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala

Ten months gone and counting, since the Bishop of Bafia His Lordship Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala was brutally murdered and dumped at the banks of the River Sanaga in Ntsang village, and the Cameroon government has not officially published the results of the investigation on who and what killed the prelate.

According to Jeune Afrique Magazine, this delay is creating a deterioration in the relationship between Cameroon and Vatican, who has refused to appoint an Apostolic Nuncio to replace Piero Pioppo who was transferred to Indonesia last September 8, 2017.

Since then, the diplomatic affairs of the Holy See(Vatican) in Cameroon has been under the of Cosma Ambrosini.

Late Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala, disappeared on the 31st of May 2017, and the signal of his disappearance was his white Prado truck matriculated CE 9503 V parked on the Ebebda bridged, that had on the front passenger seat, his particulars and a suicide note 'Je suis dans'. ' I am in the water'.

His body was found at the banks of River Sanaga in Nstang village Monatele on June 2, 2017, by fishermen.

An autopsy was carried out on his body to determine the cause of his death, and the results according to the State Counsel of the Mfoundi Yaounde High Court said there were no traces of violence on his body, and that he might have probably drowned himself to death.

However, contrarily to what the Cameroon government produced as post mortem results, the Catholic church in Cameroon through its leader Archbishop Samuel Kleda in a press release of June 13, 2017 condemned the killing of the prelate, stating black on white that he was 'Brutally Assassinated' and that they saw traces of violence on him, when his body was brought to the shore from the boat transporting it.

The Bishops filed a case against X, for the murder of their colleague and since then, the Cameroonian public is waiting for the outcome of the case.

Meanwhile the government who too opened investigations to shed more lights on the supposed drowning of the prelate, is yet to release their investigation report, which is actually the reason why Vatican is frowning hard on the delay.
