Nelson Chamisa's Wife Attacked On Twitter

MDC-T faction leader Nelson Chamisa has come under fire for comments made while introducing her wife to supporters at the #RunForChange event in Harare.

Chamisa on Sunday morning for the first time spoke on why his wife is not a public feature like other First Ladies of leading political parties.

Said Chamisa, "I heard Mnangagwa saying where is Chamisa's wife, and I said, ah ah ah. Garwe is not right.

Others are saying "Mama Nero."

In introducing his wife, Chamisa said:

"Ndinokutendai ava, ehh maita rombo rakanak. Inini ndakataura ndikati mudzimayi wangu maiChamisa havazowanikwe kunyaya dzokuita sezvinoita ana mai Munangagwa nevamwe mai vayavaye zvekupesuka pesuka sokuti ivo ndo vakuda kuita President. Vanenge vachibatsira baba vakatsigisa musha kwete kuti baba ndevhu, amai ndevhu poita kunge mbudzi hazvisi rayithi. Toda zvinhu zvakangonaka mai vachibata nekoko, baba vachibata nekuphi."

"I want to thank you all, this is Mrs Chamisa. You are privileged - I predetermined it from the beginning that I will not allow my wife to become like what the Mnangagwa's (wives) are doing, jumping up and down like chickens as if they are now the Presidents. Mine will be busy supporting her husband building the family behind the scenes, not this practice of a woman growing beard like her husband as if they are goats. The husband will be busy handling that side while the wife is handling their own side."

The speech did not go well with some individuals on Twitter:

Some commentators feel that Chamisa belittled Mrs Mnangagwa in his comments. This made some resort mean comments on Chamisa's wife.

Below are some of the comments:

Nyasha Musandu said, "Reading all these comments about how "old" Sithokozile Chamisa looks is actually everything that's wrong with society. Then we wonder why she may want to stay out of the spotlight. We are brutal & unkind where we don't need to be. We need to raise the level of our discourse."

One commentator said, "Yes that is true but I note your lack of outrage at the belittling of Mrs Mnangagwa by no less than a presidential candidate. Presidential candidate surely to be held to higher standard than Varakashi
Matongo Hungwe said, "Sometimes reading between the line of politics and reality is the best wisdom. Talking about ED's wife while introducing his wife was a big call for people to summarize his own wife and come with a conclusion. he is to blame

Vengesai Marufu said, "The husband attracted the attacks on her wife by introducing her while comparing and belittling other women. He declared doors of attacks and comparisons.

Tafarrell said, "While I agree her looks aren't relevant & she wisely stays out of the limelight, she may want to talk about how her husband referred to his opponents wife when introducing her. What exactly does "Baba Ndebvu Amai Ndebvu kunge mbudzi" mean? Is THAT ok? Aren't you outraged by THAT

Luck said, "Thats what happens when your main campaign message is centered on age (generational consensus, hatitongwe nechembere). There is nothing untoward about the people's response, its actually the best response

TheWidmeister said, "Mugabe sucks,ZANU ruined our economy n lives,Gukurahundi happened, the Chinese are looting, the sky is blue and Mai Nero looks ancient.just throwing a few random facts

Nyasha, afaik, it's Nero himself who dragged the poor woman into his bullettrain fights. I don't condone any aspersions on the character and looks of the woman but wasn't it inevitable given the invitation by Nero. De facto, I was going to be surprised if it had gone uncommented

Nyasha Musandu said, "This eye for an eye mentality isn't helping us get anywhere fast. So because he said something negative and unwarranted about the first lady, we must do the same. How can we aspire for better when we all settling for petty?
