Amy Schumer Is Asking Maroon 5 To Bow Out Of the Super Bowl Halftime Show

Super Bowl fans will not be graced with any Amy Schumer spots between plays this year.

The I Feel Pretty star says she is turning down all NFL offers after they apparently blacklisted Colin Kaepernick and other players who kneeled during the national anthem as a symbolic protest of police brutality.

She shared the news on Instagram: “I personally told my reps I wouldn’t do a Super Bowl commercial this year. I know it must sound like a privilege ass sacrifice but it’s all i got. Hitting the NFL with the advertisers is the only way to really hurt them.”

She does have Super Bowl spots in her past: In 2016, Schumer appeared in a Bud Light commercial alongside Seth Rogen.

But Schumer is also calling on others to join her boycott, saying Maroon 5 should bow out of halftime, and gave a shout-out to Rihanna amid reports that she refused to perform.
“Once you witness the truly deep inequality and endless racism people of color face in our country, not to mention the police brutality and murders. Why not kneel next to your brothers? Otherwise how are you not complicit?”
