Jean Nkuete Lambasts Maurice Kamto For His Imaginary Victory!

Jean Nkuete, the Secretary General of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, has lambasted presidential candidate Maurice Kamto, for declaring an ‘imaginary victory’ two weeks ahead of the proclamation of election results.

Jean Nkuete lampooned Professor Maurice Kamto during a press briefing at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel on Monday October 8, 2018.

The press briefing brought together some government Ministers, topnotch militants of the ruling CPDM and some opposition allies of the ruling party.

It is worthy to note that prior to Jean Nkuete’s press briefing, Professor Maurice Kamto had earlier on held a press conference and declared himself winner of the October 7 presidential poll.

Maurice Kamto insinuated that counting done by his party militants had revealed that he was winner of the October 7, presidential election.

Reacting to the claims by Kamto, the CPDM SG said it was an attempt to jeopardise the most cherished virtues of peace in Cameroon, preached and held very dear by President Paul Biya.

He said the claims by Maurice Kamto were seditious and aimed at creating tension in the country. He wondered aloud how somebody who is aiming at leading the nation should be the first person to violate democratic principles and the rule of law.
Jean Nkuete called on Cameroonians to remain calm, vigilant and not to give in to any form of provocation while they await the proclamation of the official results by the Constitutional Council.

Since Maurice Kamto’s declaration of victory at the October 7, Presidential election, there has been a barrage of reactions from the political elite, with some hailing his decision and others condemning it outrightly .
